Statutory Pension Consolidation Formula (G.O.Ms.No. 55)
Under G.O.Ms.No. 55, basic pension and family pension are consolidated using the same fitment and dearness relief principles applied to serving employees:
Statutory floor under G.O.Ms.No. 55. No pensioner or family pensioner receives less than this basic amount.
50% of the maximum of the Master Scale (₹1,62,070) under RPS 2020.
Additional Quantum of Pension from Age 70 Onwards (G.O.Ms.No. 57)
Through G.O.Ms.No. 57, dated 11-06-2021, the Government of Telangana lowered the eligibility threshold for Additional Quantum of Pension to 70 years (previously 75 years). This allowance is calculated directly on the Consolidated Basic Pension:
| Age Bracket of Pensioner | Additional Quantum Rate | Statutory Government Order |
|---|---|---|
| 70 to less than 75 years | 15% of Basic Pension | G.O.Ms.No. 57, dated 11-06-2021 |
| 75 to less than 80 years | 20% of Basic Pension | G.O.Ms.No. 57, dated 11-06-2021 |
| 80 to less than 85 years | 30% of Basic Pension | G.O.Ms.No. 57, dated 11-06-2021 |
| 85 to less than 90 years | 40% of Basic Pension | G.O.Ms.No. 57, dated 11-06-2021 |
| 90 to less than 95 years | 50% of Basic Pension | G.O.Ms.No. 57, dated 11-06-2021 |
| 95 to less than 100 years | 60% of Basic Pension | G.O.Ms.No. 57, dated 11-06-2021 |
| 100 years or more | 100% of Basic Pension | G.O.Ms.No. 57, dated 11-06-2021 |
* Note: Dearness Relief (DR) is also admissible on the Additional Quantum of Pension as per prevailing state finance rules.
Commutation Rules & Restoration of Full Pension
1. 40% Commutation Limit
Retiring employees can commute up to a maximum of 40% of their basic pension into a lump-sum amount at the time of retirement, determined by the statutory commutation value table based on age on next birthday.
2. 15-Year Restoration Period
The commuted portion of pension is restored in full upon completion of 15 years from the date of payment of commutation. After 15 years, the pensioner draws 100% of their revised basic pension without any deduction.
3. Dearness Relief on Full Basic Pension
Crucially, Dearness Relief (DR) is always calculated on the Full Basic Pension (before commutation deduction), ensuring inflation relief is never reduced by the commuted amount.
Gratuity & Medical Allowance Enhancements
Retirement Gratuity (G.O.Ms.No. 56)
The maximum ceiling on Retirement Gratuity (DCRG) was enhanced from ₹12,00,000 to ₹16,00,000 with effect from 01-07-2018 (monetary benefit from 01-04-2020).
Fixed Medical Allowance (G.O.Ms.No. 59)
Service pensioners and family pensioners not covered under cashless employee health schemes receive a monthly Fixed Medical Allowance (FMA) of ₹600 per month (enhanced from ₹450).
